How To Make Money Using Black Magic
If 2015 was a big year for #BlackGirlMagic, then 2016 is already off to a glowing, coconut oil-anointed start — thanks in part to the flawless*** covers of Essence magazine's February issue.
Actress Yara Shahidi, who plays Zoey on ABC's Black-ish, is Essence's "rising star."
Chi-raq's Teyonah Parris, also knows for her roles in Mad Men, Survivor's Remorse, and Dear White People, is the "Scene-Stealer."
And Johnetta "Netta" Elzie, the "Activist," is joined by other organizers, including Bree Newsome and Jessica Byrd, on the magazine's "On Our Radar" list.
All three are also captured in a gorgeous spread inside the magazine.
The issue, which celebrates black girls and women in a range of worlds — from entertainment to activism to tech — has attracted a lot of love on Twitter.
Elzie shared a lovely behind-the-scenes selfie with Parris.
And Shahidi tweeted her appreciation for the whole process.
"Being a part of this reemergence of a movement both pro-diversity and pro-woman is the best part of being a Black girl," the 16-year-old told Essence.
